ILOILO CITY: The Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Task Force (Icast) is recalling immediately the identification cards issued to more than 100 volunteers in the campaign against smoking.

This was disclosed by Icast chairman, city Councilor Joshua Alim after verifying reports posted in the social media that some volunteers are themselves cigarette smokers. Alim also acknowledged that some volunteers wear Icast patches and other shirts not issued by Icast. The volunteers who are smokers must undergo rehabilitation at the cessation clinic of the city health office and the 15 Icast organic and regular members are the ones who will do the anti-smoking operations, he said. Alim, newly arrived from a two-week Bloomberg scholarship study on tobacco control at the John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, USA said that only four delegates are from the Philippines participated in the global study with a total of 120 participants from 24 countries.
