Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So kept his fourth-place position after scoring a seventh-round draw with GM Hikaru Nakamura of US in the 9th Bilbao Chess Masters Final being held in Bilbao, Spain.
The defending champion So now has six points to share the No. 4 spot with GM Anish Giri of the Netherlands and GM Sergey Karjakin of Russia, who also got the same score.
Giri and Karjakin agreed to a draw in their separate seventh-round match.
World champion GM Magnus Carlsen of Norway is still on top with 12 points while Nakamura kept his second-place seat with nine points.
GM Wei Yi of China remains third with eight points.
Carlsen and Wei also split the point in the seventh round of the tournament which follows a football game scoring system, giving three points for a win and one point for each draw.
So battles Giri in the eighth round then Wei in ninth and Carlsen in the final round.
The other eight-round matches are Karjakin versus Carlsen, and Wei versus Nakamura.
