Veteran international campaigner Kyla Soguilon and Thim Concon led the winners in the 69th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) Leg Series on Sunday at the Panaad Sports Complex in Bacolod City.
Soguilon of Aklan Swimming Team bagged three gold medals as she topped the girls’ 9 years 200-meter Individual Medley (IM), 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly while Concon won two golds in the boys’ 12 years 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly.
“We want these kids to be more competitive, we want them to expose to a higher level of competition. It’s their chance to showcase their skills as we are selecting swimmers who will represent our country in some major international tournaments next year,” said PSL President Susan Papa.
Also winning gold medals in the girls’ division were Rose Mary Occeño (17), Stacey Arabella Bee (4), Naomi Divinagracia (6), Alexi Kouzeny Cabayaran (8), Sidley Malumay (11), Georr Jude Briones (12), Gewn Joy Del Carmen (14), Julie Mary Occeño (14), Andrea Jerez (15), Juliene Brigoli (15) and Remselle Limaco (17) leading the gold medallists in the boys’ class were Michael Gabriel Lozada (8) and Luis Vicente Evangelista (16) along with Francis Timilar (6), Michael Gabriel Lozada (8), Jennuel De Leon (9), Remro Limaco (13), Ezekiel Cagape (14), Ronald Homa (18) and Marco Lacson (19).
The PSL thanked Toby’s Bacolod for providing shirts for our technical team as well as Nature Spring for sending bottled water.
“After the tournament, we will be announcing the qualifiers for the 2015 Summer World University Games and the swimmers who made it to the lineup for international competitions,” added Papa.
The PSL is the national sports association for swimming of the Federation of School Sports Associations of the Philippines. It has the longest running swimming grassroots development program in the country. The PSL is also an affiliate to Federation International Sports University.
