• Soguilon snatches five golds in 66th PSL Leg series

    Philippine Swimming League (PSL) standout, nine-year old Kyla Soguilon of Aklan Swimming team won five gold medals in the first half play of the 66th PSL leg series at Villareal Stadium in Roxas, Capiz.

    Soguilon ruled the 200-meter individual medley (IM) event, the 50-meter backstroke, breastroke and butterfly stroke tilts as well as the 100-meter freestyle race.

    Soguillon is a bemedalled tanker in international competitions held in Capetown South Africa, Singapore, Hongkong and Thailand.

    Not to be outdone is Rose Mary Occeno, a 17-year old 2015 Universiade qualifier from John B. Lacson Maritime Foundation University in Iloilo City. Occeno also won five gold medals in 200-meter IM, 400-meter Freestyle, 50-meter backstroke and 200-meter freestyle.

    “We are not getting tired to go outside Manila to continue develop our grassroots developmental program nationwide,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

    The 66th Leg series, titled Langoy Capiz is being conducted in cooperation with Gov. Victor Tanco, Provincial Tourism Chief Alfonsos Tezoro and the Turbo Shark swim club led by the PSL Regional Director Jose Borres.

    The other gold medalists were Samantha Lachica, Georjeana Plenago, Georr Jude Briones, Alic Deniel De la Cruz, Laira Enero, Joan Perez, Toni Ann Garcesto, Michael Gabriel Lozada, Jason Adrian Mirabueno, Denver Tolinero, Jennuel De Leon, Ashlee Dequito, Ellgine Arsenal, Casy Gumabong, John Lloyd Yatar, Marc Jara, Ritzmond Palomado, Jason Ellemo Villaruz and Chryserr Palomado.

    A total of 200 swimmers from all over the Visayas joined the tournament.
