THE Quezon City Council approved a resolution for the use of solar-powered airconditioning system at the QC Hall compound to lower power consumption. Resolution No. SP-5984 S-2014, proposed by 2nd District Councilor Ramon P. Medalla, urges Mayor Herbert M. Bautista to consider using solar powered airconditioners to reduce the city’s utility expenditures as well as to cope with power interruptions. Medalla is optimistic that solar airconditioners will reduce the city’s greenhouse gas discharge and will save QC Hall some 30-50 percent in electrical bills. Solar airconditioners use solar panels to heat refrigerant that can maintain energy required for cooling process. The heat coming from solar panels serves as fuel replacing carbon dioxide emission from regular aircoolers.
