ZAMBOANGA CITY: The Philippine Army arrested Sgt. Jeffrey Ordoño for pilfering and selling ammunition to civilians in Mindanao. Ordoño, assigned with the 10th Division Training School training soldier applicants, allegedly pilfered 1,000 live ammunition and sold them to civilians. If evidence warrants, he shall undergo either administrative or judicial proceedings that may include trial by court martial, the Army said. Major General Rafael Valencia, 10th Infantry Division head, has strongly warned soldiers against selling ammunition. There were previous allegations that soldiers had sold weapons and ammunition to the Abu Sayyaf Group, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the New People’s Army and even criminal gangs in southern Philippines.
