PH in Top 10
LAS VEGAS: Beauties from across the globe converged in Las Vegas Sunday, where Miss South Africa was crowned Miss Universe.
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, 22, edged out her rivals from Colombia and Jamaica to take the crown.
The Philippines’ Rachel Peters reached the Top 10.
Peters, a wild card candidate who emerged in the initial Top 16 based on Miss Universe’s new mechanics for 2017, told model Ashley Graham she was “overwhelmed” by the turn of events.
When asked by host Steve Harvey what it meant to represent one of the most enthusiastic nations when it comes to the Miss Universe pageant, Peters said, “It is such an honor. It means the world to me, it means the universe to me, and I can hear the entire Philippines screaming for me all the way from here. I love you Philippines!”
