The chief of the Southern Tagalog Regional Police Office was ordered relieved Wednesday as the inquiry into the death of two bosses of the Ozamis Gang while allegedly trying to escape from police custody goes into full swing.
At a hastily called press briefing in Camp Crame on Wednesday, Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II announced he has ordered that Chief Supt. Benito Estipona be relieved as commander of the Southern Tagalog Police office.
The relief of Estipona came just a few hours after PNP Chief, Director General Alan Purisima ordered the relief of a team from Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) that escorted slain gang leaders Ricky Cadavero and Wilfred Panoligan Jr.
Roxas said command responsibility dictates that Estipona, as regional commander, has supervision and operational control of the RSOG.
