The Meralco Sparks leaned on the solid game of star striker Phil Younghusband to thrash Pasargad FC, 9-0.

The 28-year-old skipper of the Azkals scored a hat trick with his first goal in the 25th minute followed by two more goals in the second half.

Sparks’ team captain James Younghusband similarly made his presence felt with a brace performance following shots in the 40th and 47th minutes.

Jason De Jong, Jinggoy Valmayor and Spaniard Alvaro Castiella also posted a goal each.

Pasargad fought hard to retaliate but was nevertheless handed another loss this UFL season.

Loyola took the top spot of the standings with eight wins, a loss and a 17-point edge on goal difference while defending champion Ceres is third with seven wins and a defeat.

Pasargad is still winless with just a draw in nine games.

Meanwhile, Spanish forward Adrian Gallardo Valdes led Ceres to another convincing win as they routed Laos FC, 11-0.

Gallardo Valdes notched an impressive six-goal output in the seventh win of Ceres.

Lee Jeong Woo pierced their foes’ defense in the 11th minute followed by Patrick Reichelt’s strike in the 25th to give Ceres La Salle a 2-0 advantage.

Former national team utility player Carli De Murga registered a goal of his own in the 73rd minute while Orman Okunaiya and Stephan Schrock scored goals in the 81st and 90th minutes, respectively.

Laos stood tall sending a series of counter-attacks against their rivals, but was unable to score until the final whistle.

With the loss, Laos fell to the 11th position with a win and eight losses.
