NEW YORK: Top-ranked golfer Jordan Spieth, the reigning Masters and US Open champion, has signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Coca-Cola, the company announced on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila).
Spieth, a 22-year-old American, overtook Tiger Woods as the sports leading money spinner in 2015 according to Golf Digest with $53 million in prize money and sponsorships, including a $30 million clothing deal with Under Armour, to $48.5 million for Woods.
“This is an incredibly cool opportunity for me,” Spieth said. “As a brand ambassador, I look forward to growing awareness for the sport of golf globally and engaging with fans in exciting new ways.”
Spieth, who won last week’s PGA Tournament of Champions in Hawaii by eight strokes, will be featured on television and social media as well as product packaging and billboards. He also has deals with AT&T, Rolex and Titleist.
Spieth’s seven career PGA triumphs include last year’s Tour Championship, which gave him the season playoff crown and a $10 million bonus.
