Spinner Dolphin found dead off Cavite

Rosario, Cavite: A female Dwarf Spinner dolphin was found dead by fishermen on Saturday morning off the bay in Rosario town Cavite. Rodel Marasigan of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said the dolphin, which weighed 40 to 45 kilos and had a length of six feet, is usually found in the Gulf of Thailand. He added that the dead dolphin maybe a new specie since this is not among the dolphin species that are usually found in the country. The fishermen, who found the dolphin, said they immediately informed the Bantay Dagat team and Mayor Jose Ricafrente Jr., who ordered them to bury the creature after the examination.
