During my first visit to Mambukal over 20 years ago, I got wet even before I arrived there. It was during my backpacking days. I was saving money so that I could visit as many provinces as I can on a tight budget. Renting a service vehicle to go there was quite expensive. So I did the next best thing to do: I took a jampacked jeepney that goes there only once a day. The only available space was on a top load. As we left Bacolod City, the sky turned dark and released a heavy downpour.
I came to Mambukal to enjoy its waters, but not this early, as I laughed at the experience.
