St. Benilde rules NCAA general championship


HOST College of Saint Benilde Blazers won the General Championship of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

The Blazers finished with a total of 550.5 points to grab its fourth overall championship since joining the league in 1998, ending San Beda College’ three-year reign. The Red Lions finished second with 544 points. The Blazers previously won the general championship in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Meanwhile, the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA’s Altas Perps captured its record eighth cheerleading crown. Arellano University’s The Dancing Chiefs finished second and Mapua’s Cheering Cardinals third.

“This championship is really for our school. We want to stay on top,” said Perpetual Help mentor Ruf Vandolph Rosario.

In the high school division, San Beda snatched the general championship title dethroning San Sebastian. CSB-La Salle Greenhills finished second and Letran third.
