• Stanton, Marlins agree to record deal

MIAMI: Slugger Giancarlo Stanton has reportedly agreed in principle to a record 13-year, $325 million (261m euros) contract with the Miami Marlins, US media said on Monday (Tuesday in Manila). If the monster deal becomes official it would be the richest contract in North American sports history, CBSSports.com reported. The 25-year-old Stanton is the most feared power hitter in American baseball. He finished runner-up to pitcher Clayton Kershaw for National League MVP honours after a superb 2014 Major League Baseball season that included an NL-best 37 homers and a career-high 105 runs batted in.
