AS part of the its community relations efforts, Star Tollway Corp.’s (STC) business development manager Tony Reyes recently visited Archbishop Ramon Arguelles of the Archdiocese of Lipa to share their traffic and safety plans for the 42-kilometer Star Tollway for the forthcoming Holy Week, when thousands of pilgrims and devotees are expected to trek to Batangas for the traditional Visita Iglesia.
“It would greatly help if travel guides and more directional signs leading to churches in Batangas are put up along the Star Tollway,” Bishop Arguelles said. For his part, Reyes obliged to implement the request of the religious leader and at the same time, cited improvements at the tollway’s exits leading to popular church destinations.
Included in the improvements at the Star Tollway are additional two lanes from Lipa to Batangas City and asphalt overlay works on the entire toll road that will make travel by the devotees bound for Lipa, Taal and Batangas City more pleasant, safer and faster. Installation of additional lighting facilities and CCTV cameras, which are part of the PhP2.3-billion improvement project, are expected to be completed soon in time for the summer vacation.
Meanwhile, Bishop Arguelles announced that the Lipa Archdiocese, together with various sectors, have initiated the “Clean Tourism Program” which is aimed at promoting wholesome and family-oriented destinations, like cultural and scenic spots and churches; one of which is the Mary Mediatrix of All Grace Church, the miracle site of the 1948 shower of petals.
