THE two additional lanes on the 20-kilometer Batangas City to Lipa City section of the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Toll-way) is nearing completion, this was announced by the Star Infrastructure Development Corp. (SIDC). SIDC is the concession company for Star Toll-way.

According to the SIDC the PhP 2.4 billion expansion project will be completed very soon with just the lane markings and installation of lamp posts next on the to-do list.

The asphalt overlay of the 22-km main roadway from Sto. Tomas to Lipa City and the seven bridges are 100 percent complete and now operational. The lane marking work and erection of the new lamp posts on the 42-km. Star Toll-way are expected to be finished anytime soon.

Repainting of toll booths, bridges, guardrails and other road fixtures as well as finishing works on the eight lay-by areas and installation of fiber optic cables and CCTV cameras are in progress.

“We are taking our December 2014 target completion seriously so that we can provide our motoring patrons better and safer road in time for the Christmas season,” said Melvin Nazareno, SIDC president and CEO.
