Mayor Joseph Evangelista said most of the funds will be used for rehabilitation of damaged drainage canals, waterways and rivers that crisscrossed in at least 12 villages.

On Sept. 11, rampaging waters submerged densely populated communities when Nuangan River overflowed following about two hours of heavy downpour.

Evangelista told Radyo Bida Kidapawan that 12 families whose houses were totally damaged will get material support in rebuilding their homes and Php10,000 cash assistance. For victims whose houses were partially damaged will get Php6,000 financial aid.

Engr. Lito Hernandez, Kidapawan City engineering chief, told city council members the flash floods destroyed an estimated Php31 million worth infrastructure such as city streets, concrete pavements, drainage canals, box culverts, foot and hanging and bailey bridges in at least 10 barangays.

To ensure safety and save lives, the city disaster council has recommended the relocation of residents to safer grounds. PNA
