Proudly Filipino-made cosmetic brand Happy Skin joins women across the country in basking under the summer while staying beautiful despite the sweltering heat.

A very young brand, Happy Skin continues to fulfill its promise to formulate “makeup that cares for the skin” with the launch of its 2014 “Turn Up the Heat” summer collection. The pretty hot event was held on April 2 at the über posh 71 Gramercy in Century City Mall, Makati City.

In an afternoon of beauty and fun, Happy Skin founders Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez and Rissa Mananquil-Trillo excitedly shared their new line of lippies and blushes whose colors are perfect for the season. With their valuable experience as a former Unilever Personal Care executive and a model and beauty columnist respectively, the pair knew just what to offer their growing number of patrons who value quality makeup.

“Makeup makes you pretty but [using]it is a contradiction because it damages the skin. With our backgrounds, we’ve always had to deal with makeup, which is why we know that women need the kind of makeup that compliments their skin care routine,” Mananquil-Trillo said.

“We have women from 15 to 50 [years old]using our products, and a lot of them tell us they don’t break out anymore with our makeup and feel they have healthier glowing skin after using our products,” Gutierrez added.

Adding on to their current crop of best sellers—“Shut Up and Kiss Me” lippies, “Don’t Get Mad Get Even” foundations, “Get Cheeky With Me” blushes and the SS Crème rendition of the famous BB Cream—Happy Skin’s new collection is just as witty name-wise, attractively packaged, and fabulous in effects.

On top of the list is the “Feeling Sculptacular” face contour kit, which does wonders for the face.

“You’ll instantly notice the difference when using this product. Your face brightens up and its natural shape is amplified. It also gives the face more definition, thus giving off a slimmer look,” Gutierrez related.

The “Eye Am Here to Stay” 24-hour gel pencil auto eyeliner range, meanwhile, took a year to perfect, according to the partners. Available in Perfect Black, Chic Brown, and Eye-Popping Peppermint colors, this budge- and smear-proof eyeliners can withstand the oiliest eyelids and the warmest of weathers due to the extensive research and development that went behind the product.

“We tested this by traveling to different countries—going all the way to Boracay just to make sure it doesn’t come off!” enthused Mananquil-Trillo.

“Our eyeliners levels up the playing field when it comes to liners in the market today because we specially made it to care for the skin with Argan oil as its active ingredient,” Gutierrez continued. Argan oil is a natural ingredient known for its moisturizing properties while allowing easy application.

”Make a Clean Sweep” is next on the list, a revitalizing Micellar water makeup cleanser that is already popular around the Asian region.

“It can both act as a makeup remover and cleanser, because if you use the Micellar water, you don’t really need to wash your face again. Micellar water is popular in other beauty capitals, and we are proud to say that Happy Skin is first in introducing the product in the country. Compared to oil-based makeup removers, it’s lighter, fresher and won’t clog your pores,” Mananquil-Trillo told The Manila Times.

    Summer shades

As for Happy Skin’s summer collection, the “Turn Up the Heat” limited edition range is again comprised of new shades of blushes and lippies.

Vibrant and fun, three lippies can actually be mixed together to create six different shades. Summer Crush is a bright and flirty pink; Sunset Kiss is a red-orange mix that is youthful and fun; while The Morning After is a sexy nude number for a more natural look.

The blushes, which complement the lippie shades, come in colors—the orange Sunset Kiss and The Morning After pink.

“Sunset Kiss is a flattering orange shade that gives that warm sun-kissed effect, while The Morning After gives a natural effortless glow,” Mananquil-Trillo related.

The “caring ingredients” in the lippies is all-natural collagen and Shea Butter, while the blushes are infused with Cherry Blossoms extracts. All these provide the benefit of sun protection while keeping women happy and beautiful all summer through.
