So stays in hunt in Tata Steel tourney


Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So drew his seventh-round match with GM Teimour Radjabov of Azerbaijan in the 2015 Tata Steel Chess Tournament being held in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.

So, however, dropped to third spot with 4.5 points on two wins and five draws in the tournament sanctioned by the International Chess Federation.

Also in the group are GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France and GM Ding Liren of China, who scored 4.5 points each.

GM Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine and GM Magnus Carlsen of Norway are sharing the lead with five points apiece.

So will be meeting Ivanchuk in the crucial eighth round before facing Vachier-Lagrave in the ninth, GM Ding Liren of China (10th round), GM Ivan Saric of Croatia (11th round), 2014 runner-up GM Anish Giri of the Netherlands (12th round) and GM Loek Van Wely of the Netherlands (13th round).

The other eighth-round games are Jobava vs. Carlsen, Vachier-Lagrave vs. Giri, Ding vs. GM Ivan Saric of Croatia, Radjabov vs. GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek of Poland, Van Wely vs. Caruana, and GM Hou Yifan of China vs. GM Levon Aronian of Armenia.
