Steady increase in anti-drug accomplishments in 2014

The country’s drug law enforcement continued to pick up right where it left off as the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other law enforcement agencies (OLEAs) posted a significant increase in anti-illegal drug accomplishments for operational year 2014. PDEA, in collaboration with the Philippine National Police, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Customs (BOC) and OLEAs have conducted a total of 16,931 anti-drug operations, 280 of these high-impact operations, from January to December 2014. “This is 48 percent more than the operations conducted in 2013. As a result of the increase, the number of persons arrested likewise rose by 50 percent from 9,162 in 2013 to 13,779 in 2014,” said Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac, Jr., PDEA Director General.
