She may not have won the coveted Miss Universe crown on Monday, but Rachel Peters definitely won the hearts, not just of rabid Filipino pageant fans, but of local celebrities as well.
As such, congratulatory messages for her notable Top 10 finish in the pageant—dubbed “The Oscars” of beauty contests—abounded on social media.
“Making it to the top 10 is such a feat! You were gorgeous @rachelpetersx. Congratulations to our #MissUniverse #Philippines” actress-host Anne Curtis shared among her 10-million followers via @annecurtissmith.
“Hindi ko akalain! Rachel Peters you did so well at ikaw pa rin ang Miss Universe para sa amin!” TV host Bianca Gonzalez-Intal wrote using her Twitter account @iamsuperbianca, which has 6.8-million followers.
Her sisters in pageantry—Peters’ fellow beauty queens—were especially emotional in their messages.
“Still slow clap for Rachel with standing ovation. You brought the Philippines together for almost a week. Ikaw pa rin ang Miss Universe ko sa taong ito. You made us proud, sabi ko nga manalo matalo marami na nagmamahal sayo!” 2010 Miss Universe 4th runner up Venus Raj wrote.
