This Christmas, the holidays are all about finding happiness and excitement in the simplest of things; and this feeling of joy should radiate from the inside and out. No matter that most Yuletide parties have been cancelled, women—especially those who are tasked to organize more austere gatherings, as well as activities intended to help those who have been affected by the recent calamity—will find that looking their best, while getting through this different Christmas rush will make everything more enjoyable. So be free of stress—at least in looks—with these special holiday beauty tips gathered by The Manila Times.
Achieving pure ‘pore-fection’
Benefit Cosmetics Philippines is also ready and raring to give women a hand in looking their best this season, with the launch of its newest POREfessional product, the pro-powder Agent Zero Shine. Just like its precursor, the bestselling POREfessional pro-balm, the ultra-lightweight product reduces the appearance of pores and vanishes shine.
No less than Annie Ford Danielson—one of Benefit’s two Global Beauty Authorities, and the daughter and niece of founders Jean and Jane Ford, respectively—came to Manila to officially introduce the new product.
“We always have new items from our collections every holiday but this one is the biggest yet,” Danielson said at an intimate pre-gathering at Sofitel Philippine Plaza. “Maggie [her sister who could not join her for the trip]and I, we travel constantly to know the women and get the feedback on the products that we launch.”
To show how in touch Benefit it with their patrons all over the world, Danielson personally demoed how to use the POREfessional pro balm and powder at the event, and even shared some tips and tricks on how to look one’s best. She also revealed the special ingredients in the pro-balm powder that makes it effective: the Lentil Seed Extract for pore minimizing, and high-tech Polymer for controlling oil.
Agent Zero Shine in translucent shade comes in a custom all-in-one powder brush dispenser that is easy as “1-2-3.” Step one, twist off the built-in brush; step two, tap powder into lid; step three, sweep on skin—and voila! The invisible finish is pure pore-fection.
Have healthy, flawless face
Looking your best always begins with a healthy and flawless face. To achieve this, Japanese brand Koh Gen Do offers its latest skincare-and-makeup in one product, the Maifanshi Aqua Foundation.
In November, Koh Gen Do chief executive officer Shintaro Itabashi personally hosted an intimate dinner at Umu restaurant in Dusit Thani Manila to re-launch this improved aqua foundation, which first arrived in the country in 2011.
In his remarks, he said, “Whenever we launch our products abroad, I always feel like my daughter is getting married. Today, I came here to see my daughter’s wedding. Please welcome the new Aqua Foundation.”
Itabashi revealed that the foundation is Koh Gen Do’s best-selling product in Japan and the United States. And as the top executive of the company, he was confident that the same would be true in the Philippines. “I am very happy and proud to finally share this item in the Philippines. I am sure you will be a fan too!” he exclaimed.
The technically advanced Maifanshi Aqua Foundation gives natural glowing skin similar to the result of a post facial treatment because it is infused with RGB powder—an ingredient that enhances the natural tone of one’s complexion for a brighter and pore-less texture.
Also introduced was the new Maifanshi Aqua Foundation Illuminator, which highlights and brightens the face with a fine natural finish through a sheer beige tone.
Koh Gen Do uses plant extracts and other nature-derived ingredients in all its products. Proven-safe, the formulations are also free of artificial fragrances, petroleum-based mineral oil and synthetic pigments.
Sealing a kiss of joy
For a joyful kiss, there are two new lippies released in the beauty market in time for the holidays.
The new Lip Ice Tinted Lip Balm range from Kansas-based The Mentholatum Co. features natural hues of pink and red that come in fruity flavors of Strawberry, Raspberry and Wild Berry. Packed with Hyaluronic Acid and Meadowfoam Seed Oil, the lip balm provides and retains lip moisture. Other key ingredients include collagen for anti-aging properties and elasticity, and Vitamin E, an anti-oxidant for fighting free-radicals.
Meanwhile Collection’s Colour Pro Lip Lacquer from the United Kingdom, is a gloss that gives an intense burst of color with a lustrous effect for a vivacious pout. It comes in four shades namely, Prom Queen (old rose pink), Rebel (electric pink), Show Off (persimmon orange), and It Girl (tango pink undertone).
Beat the signs of aging
To ensure glowing skin before and after the use of cosmetics, classic beauty line Olay launched a new skin-whitening and anti-aging cream, the White Radiance CelLucent White Essence. The product launch was held through the “Spotless: A Pitch Black Event” at the SMX Convention Center, where actress Bea Alonzo was also introduced as the newest Olay Ambassador.
“I don’t follow trends; I just try to be me. Especially in this industry, you have to look your best, and if you’re spotless, you’re fearless,” the radiant Bea said.
Olay White Radiance CelLucent White Essence promises a woman a radiant, glowing skin in a non-greasy formula. The result is similar to power peels or laser treatments thanks to its dual whitening action that not only reduces dark spots but also evens out one’s skin tone, leaving a natural, luminous glow. The product claims to make the skin look brighter and smoother in just four weeks.
Top off with a festive scent
Every season, The Body Shop provides a wonderful and colorful Christmas for its consumers and fans worldwide. This year, it presents the “Give Joy to Everybody” campaign featuring gift sets for family, friends and colleagues.
The Body Shop Philippines officials launched the campaign in late November. Communications manager Danica Leung elaborated, “This year our theme is ‘Give Joy to Everybody to show that inside The Body Shop, there is something for all, from parents to children, from grandparents to aunts and uncles, and from workmates to friends.”
Among the countless items included in the campaign, The Manila Times gives its thumbs up to two lovely scents for women. One is the new variant of the popular White Musk perfume now with a hint of Smokey Rose. This feminine scent is perfect for elegant career women. Another choice is the very Christmas-y scent of Cranberry. A limited and favorite item during the holidays, it gives off a youthful and fresh scent for free-spirited ladies.
