Kaya FC-Makati aims to extend its winning streak when it collides with Ilocos United FC in the Philippines Football League (PFL) today at the University of Makati Football Stadium.
The streaking Kaya Makati tackles the winless Ilocos United at 7 p.m., with the host also seeking to steal the top spot from current leader FC Meralco Manila.
Riding on a three-game winning roll, Kaya goes for its fourth straight victory in its second home game in a row following its 2-0 win over JPV Marikina FC last Sunday.
But Kaya head coach Noel Marcaida is concerned about his men’s stamina, considering that they will play against the Ilocanos once again four days from now.
“Going into our back-to-back games against Ilocos, the most crucial thing will be recovery,” said Marcaida.
“It’s very difficult to play three games in eight days. So, on the management side, we make sure that the players are rested properly,” he added.
In their previous meeting, the United Football League veterans turned back the rookies from Vigan, 4-2, at the President Elpidio Quirino Stadium last May 31.
Meanwhile, JPV Marikina seeks to arrest its skid against Stallion Laguna FC in their 4 p.m. tussle at the Biñan Football Stadium.
The Marikeños suffered two consecutive defeats at the hands of Meralco Manila and Kaya in their previous outings.
The Biñan-based booters, on the other hand, are coming off a 1-1 draw with Ilocos in a match that was called off at halftime due to deteriorating pitch conditions.
