IN the line of duty, a street sweeper of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday died after he and his two other companions were hit by a wayward truck while they were watering plants along Osmeña Highway in Makati City.
MMDA Metro Park Clearing Group head Francis Martinez said that the victim identified as Arsenio Ilorfe died while being treated at the Pasay City General Hospital at 7:17 p.m. on Sunday.
He said Ilorfe, Ramil Cosme and Edmund Manzano were watering plants onboard the MMDA truck when a speeding trailer truck hit them.
“It was sad that recklessness resulted to unnecessary loss of precious life,” he added.
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino immediately ordered to provide financial aid for Ilorfe’s expenses and burial assistance to the victim’s family.
Ilorfe, a resident of Quezon City, was a contractual employee working as a laborer for the agency for six years.
