Mark “Mugen” Striegl said he would fight smart when he battles Korean Jang Yong Kim tonight in the featherweight title match of the Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC) 39 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
“I’m not worried about him [Jang] but I really respected him as a fighter,” said Striegl, 25, who holds a record of 12 wins, 10 of which by submission. “Kim is a good striker and good wrestler. He also belongs to a great Korean mixed martial arts club that’s why I need to be smart during fight night.”
Kim (7-6), for his part, warned Striegl that he didn’t go to Manila to lose. The Korean said that he would go for knockout victory.
“I want to win by knockout and my condition looks very great. My wrestling, grappling and striking skills are getting better every training day,” said the 29-year-old Kim through an interpreter. “I will surprise him [Striegl] and all of you.”
The following are the other scheduled bouts for the evening: Glen Ranillo vs. Isiah Ordiz, Ernesto Montilla vs. Roldan Sangcha-an, Rolando Navarette Dy (son of former world boxing champion Rolando Navarette) vs. Kyle Reyes of Guam and Louis Smolka of Hawaii vs. Jessie Rafols of the Philippines.
