Defending champion De La Salle University overcame a lethargic game to survive Adamson University, 66-57, on Sunday for its eighth win UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball at the Araneta Coliseum.
Power forward Jason Perkins scattered 16 points and 16 rebounds, while forward Jeron Teng and guard Almond Vosotros combined for 27 points to lead the way for the Green Archers.
“We need to be consistent at all times when we play. It should be physically and mentally,” said La Salle head coach Juno Sauler, whose team also tied archrival Ateneo de Manila University in the second and third spot with an 8-3 slate.
La Salle’s three-point shooting was off, with the Archers putting in only one out of 17 attempts from beyond the arc. But the Archers used their height advantage to edge the Falcons, 28-20, in inside points.
Adamson nailed eight three-pointers in 33 attempts.
Forward Don Trollano had a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds for the winless Falcons, who dropped to 0-11.
