Student pilot injured in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: A student pilot of a flying school in Poro Point here was injured after miscalculating a landing procedure on the runway at the San Fernando Airport on Wednesday. Eryn Grace Laforteza, a student of Leading Edge International Aviation Academy, Inc. based at the airport, was allowed to fly alone on a Cessna plane-172, bearing tail number RPC-6932. Florante Gerdan, president and CEO of the Poro Point Management Corporation, said the student was brought to the nearest hospital after her plane landed in a canal outside the airport runway. Gerdan said Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines representatives are on their way to probe the incident.

  1. how and why on earth a student pilot is allowed to fly a plane solo? point the blame on the school and the aviation authority for allowing a student pilot without a seasoned pilot trainer.
