Suarez vows aid for pest-affected mangosteen farmers in Tayabas


UNISAN, Quezon: Gov. David “Jayjay” Suarez has assured mangosteen farmers of assistance for the recovery of the industry in the City of Tayabas which was also affected by cocolisap or Coconut Scale Insects infestation. Suarez said the mangosteen from Tayabas is the sweetest of its kind he has ever tasted and thus, he believes in its potential to be known throughout the country. Some of the programs and projects offered by the provincial government through the Office of the Provincial Agriculture headed by Roberto Gajo include: extensive fertilization program, soil analysis, establishment of local nursery, increased production of organic fertilizer and improvement of knowledge of members through seminars and training.
