SUBIC BAY FREEPORT: Some 5,000 tree seedlings were planted in a 2.2 hectare land by volunteers from the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), business locators here and other groups in celebration of Arbor Day recently. SBMA administrator Wilma Eisma and volunteers took a long walk to the planting site in the foothills of Barangay Bangal in Dinalupihan, Bataan, which is part of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The activity was spearheaded by SBMA’s Ecology Center joined by representatives from Subic-registered companies as well as the PNP-Special Action Forces, Olongapo City Council, Barangay Gordon Heights, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Community Environment and Natural Resources Office Olongapo City and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. The seedlings are mostly narra and fruit-bearing species.
