LUCENA CITY: Grade school student Kyla Adlaon from International School for Better Beginnings won the Whiz Kid Division with a score of 160 in the 10th Philippine Sudoku Super Challenge Regional Elimination Round held recently at SM City Lucena’s Event Center, where 28 students from different schools in this city and nearby towns and provinces competed. The players battled in three categories: Sudoku Whiz Kid for elementary where Adlaon emerged the best, Sudoku Wizard for high school students and Sudoku Grand Master for college students and professionals. Charlene de Guzman from Maryhill College triumphed in the Wizard category with a score of 197.5 and the Grand Master category was won by Ronan Salayong and Kate Anne Adlaon from De La Salle University-Taft, both garnering 155 points. Lilibeth Azores of SM Lucena said the winners will compete next in the championship round in the national final, to be held at SM North EDSA in January 2016. This annual Sudoku Challenge is organized by the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild, Philippines with Philippine Tong Ho Institute and SM Lucena.
