• Sultanate of Sulu backs up Misuari in case war erupts in Mindanao

IF war breaks out in Mindanao, the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo is vent on supporting the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).

Sultanate spokesman Abraham Idjirani on Monday said that the move of MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari is recognized by the Sultanate as legacy of its 400 years independent political sovereignty.

Misuari earlier said that President Benigno Aquino 3rd disrespected the peace efforts of the administration of former President Fidel V. Ramos with the MNLF.

He had told his men that the agreement Aquino made with the MILF is a gross violation to the peace accord which was signed by the Philippine government and the MNLF in 1996.

But Idjirani said Misuari is “only protecting the organic law signed by Ramos” adding that “the law is borne out of the Bangsamoro Struggle that caused the 100,000 lives of the Bangsamoro people from 1964 to 1996.”

“This is recognized by 1915 Kiram-Carpenter Agreement signed by Sultan Jamalul Kiram 2nd and the US Government,” he told The Manila Times in a text message.

In supporting Misuari, Idjirani said the Sultanate will also provide spiritual guidance to the people in Mindanao.

“That the Sultanate becomes the beacon of morality in providing spiritual guide towards strengthening the firm belief to fight for its aspiration in finding its true heritage,” he added.

Idjirani issued the statement in reaction to reports that war could still break out in Mindanao whether there is a final peace agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

This is because the MNLF is not keen on giving up their territories to be part of the new Bangsa Moro region that will be headed by the MILF.

MNLF Ustadz Pendi Colano, chairman of the Central Mindanao’s MNLF sub-wing Selatan State Revolutionary Committee, earlier said that his group will not relinquish their territories in Central Mindanao composed of at least seven municipalities even if the government and the MILF sign a peace agreement.

However, Idjirani urged Misuari to resolve the issue peacefully.

“The Sultanate will prevail on Prof. Misuari  not to take a radical step in the resolution of the on going crisis.

    1. The President of the republic must decide and take NO second thought on this threat. Review what Mr F Marcos did in the 70’s and implement with urgency in the whole island of Mindanao. This drastic idiology of the group will totally hinder the ongoing progress and the peace accord in Mindanao. Mr President, “declare state of emergency” in MIndanao once and for all. Save Mindanaons!!!!

    2. Nur Misuari is hungry for power that’s why he said he will not recognize the MILF-Government peace deal. Misuari is using all his influence with the muslims community to get symphatizers to undermine the peace efforts being done. Nur Misuary is just looking up for his personal interests and have no care at all for the common good and lasting peace in Mindanao that will benefit all his Muslim brother.
