The Sultanate of Sulu, under the leadership of Sultan Sharif Jubair Bin Shariful Hashim, as well as the United Bangsamoro People, has declared its support for efforts of President Benigno Aquino 3rd in giving a chance to peace and development in Mindanao through the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) that is being deliberated in Congress.
The BBL “could spell huge progress for Mindanao,” the sultan said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Imagine, our people in Mindanao exporting halal foods to international markets such as Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, the United States, and to other Muslim countries all over the globe,” he added of what the basic law would mean for entrepreneurs in southern Philippines.
“Initially, we are looking for a start of a $1-billion export that could well benefit our people in terms of jobs and businesses” that will gain from the venture into the foreign markets.
Like backers of the BBL, the Mindanao Tribal Governance that is headed by Sultan Mangacop Umpa Saud al-Haj, together with Princess of Sulu Khim S. Sabban, according to the statement, is also committed to self-determination and people empowerment.
