A STORM that the US Joint Typhoon Warning Center categorized as a “super typhoon” has maintained its strength as it headed towards the Philippines on Sunday, the state-run weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Maria” (international name) would be named “Gardo” and would be categorized only as a “typhoon” once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
