ROLLS-Royce Motor Cars unveiled at the recent Geneva Motor Show its Ghost Series II, which packs the marque’s latest industry-leading technology but is clad in a subtle redesign. As a result, Rolls-Royce said the car “exudes the timeless yet cool, modern luxury” that its discerning customers demand.
The launch of the Ghost Series II consolidates the nameplate’s position as the most popular car in its price range, the BMW-owned luxury car-maker said.
“The Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II is the ultimate entrepreneur’s business tool,” said company chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos. “Following the worldwide success of its predecessor, I am confident that this redesigned and updated Rolls-Royce will continue to attract increasing numbers of new customers to the marque, in particular business entrepreneurs seeking an oasis of calm in a frenetic business world.”
Rolls-Royce said that to protect the popularity of the Ghost’s iconic design, the subtle reinterpretation of the Ghost Series II includes new LED headlights encircled by daytime running lights; a tapered “wake channel” on the car’s hood, which starts from the Spirit of Ecstasy and evokes the sight of a jet plane’s vapor trail; reshaped bumpers that create a stronger stance and a sense of extra width and height; and chrome inserts in the front air intakes, which now feed more air cooling to the front brakes. Also, the Ghost’s famous waft line has been redesigned in its Series II to emphasize “effortless dynamism,” according to the carmaker.
“As a design statement, the Ghost Series II continues to transcend time,” said Giles Taylor, Rolls-Royce’s director of design. “This is ensured by the deft treatment of features such as the new headlights, the new wake channel on the hood and surfacing that lend the car a more dynamic, purposeful stance and hint at the cutting-edge technology inside. I am very pleased with the overall sense of design harmony.”
Rolls-Royce said that the Ghost Series II’s cabin combines contemporary luxury, technology and connectivity that are useful to entrepreneurs on the move. The car’s suite of technologies, including onboard Wi-Fi, ensures that both business and leisure time in the car are a super-luxurious effortless experience. Updates to navigation systems and the car/user interface guarantee that accessing the latest Ghost’s features is effortless. The optional bespoke audio—the most exhaustively engineered and finest audio system in automotive history, according to the carmaker—brings new levels of aural satisfaction.
A Satellite Aided Transmission (which made its debut in the Rolls-Royce Wraith last year), also enhances dynamism as the car automatically adapts to its surroundings, augmenting the drive experience.
