Surigao preacher shot during sermon

A preacher was shot dead on Sunday morning by two unidentified gunmen as he delivered his sermon inside a Church in Barangay Jubgan, San Francisco town in Surigao Del Norte, police reported on Monday.

Reports reaching the Philippine National Police National Operation Center in Camp Crame identified the victim as 45-year-old Allan Ursabia, a preacher of the Lord Jesus Christ Fellowship and a resident of Barangay Bagong Silang, San Francisco town.

Initial investigation by the San Francisco Municipal Police showed that the two gunmen entered the church at around 9:30 a.m. and started shooting at the preacher using a short firearm of still unknown caliber.

The report added that the gunmen escaped on board a red Bajaj 100 motorcycle driven by another suspect, who served as a lookout.

Ursabia was rushed to the Surigao Medical Center by concerned citizens, but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians.

The police added that responding policemen from the San Francisco Municipal Police Station (MPS) recovered nine empty shells and two slugs believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol from the scene of the crime.
