President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered a town mayor and his son to surrender within 24 hours or risk being shot on sight, Malacañang said on Monday.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said Duterte wants Albuera, Leyte Mayor Ronaldo Espinosa Sr. and his son Kerwin to immediately surrender “on the grounds of drug-trafficking and coddling.”
If both fail to surrender, Abella said an “order of shoot on sight” will be given if they resist and endanger the lives of arresting police officers.
The order came days after Espinosa’s bodyguards and employees were arrested in a buy-bust in Barangay Benolho.
Seized from them were around 237 grams of suspected shabu worth about P1.9 million.
The suspects were identified as Jessie Ocares, 34, and Marcelo Adorco, 40, Jose Antipuesto,36, Jeffrey Pesquera,39 and Ernesto Dumalat 20.
