Suspect in Bulacan judge’s ambush killed

The primary suspect in the ambush of Bulacan Regional Trial Judge Wilfredo Nieves who was arrested last Saturday was killed as he reportedly tried to grab the service firearm of one of his police escorts while on their way from an inquest proceedings in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan Monday.

Bulacan Police provincial director P/Senior Supt. Ferdinand Divina identified the slain suspect as Arnel Janoras, of Barangay Grace Ville, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.

He was the primary suspect in the killing of Nieves last November 11.

Police said the suspect was on board a police patrol car at about 9:20 a.m., with operatives of the Bulacan CIDG coming from Bulacan Provincial Prosecutors Office when Janoras grabbed the service firearm of one of his escorts.


The incident happened two kilometers away where the judge was ambushed along MacArthur Highway in Barangay Tikay, Malolos City.

Divina said Vanoras was supposedly in hand cuffs while being escorted to a court in San Jose del Monte City for inquest of a previous case filed against him.

Witnesses at the crime scene said they saw about three to four policemen alighted from the patrol immediately after the shooting. One of them was bloodied but it was not established if he was wounded or the blood was of that of the suspect.

Janoras was arrested Saturday night (November 21) in his house by operatives of Bulacan CIDG and Malolos City Police based on information of a concerned citizen. He was arrested while repairing an improvised silencer for a .45 caliber pistol. He was allegedly involved in other criminal activities before he was arrested and suspected to be a member of a high-profile gun-for-hire gang.

Janoras was positively identified by a witness to be the one who shot Judge Nieves last November 11.

During custodial investigation Janoras executed an Extra Judicial Confession, narrating the facts and circumstances relative to his participation and cohorts in the killing of the judge.

He pointed at a certain Jay Deogades alias “Jepoy”/ “Jefferson” was a regular visitor of Raymund Dominguez at the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa and that “Jepoy” personally received the instructions from Dominguez prior to the killing of Nieves.
