Bacoor City, Cavite: A female police asset was shot eight times by a suspected gun-for-hire but survived after she was taken to Philippine General Hospital on Sunday.
Her assailant is also suspected of killing a tabloid reporter here.
Bacoor City Police Chief-Rommel Estolano identified the suspect as Banjo Banggalosa Balited, 25, and residing in Pasay City, while the victim was identified as Irish Velasquez,29, and residing in, Bacoor City.
Estolano said the victim was walking in an alley near her home when the suspect armed with 9-millimeter pistol approach her and shot her in different parts of her body.
The victim was rushed to Las Pinas Hospital and afterwards transferred to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila. She suffered eight gunshot wounds in different parts of her body, but she survived
Estolano added that the victim positively identified the suspect when the police investigators showed her his picture.
The suspect was arrested in his hideout in Baytown Homes, Barangay 1, Bacoor City. Confiscated from him was a motorcycle without plate number which he used as get away vehicle. The police also found 15 grams of shabu in his possession.
Other victims of the suspect came and accused him of robbing them of P150,000.
Estolano added that the suspect might be involved in the killing of Remate reporter Robelita Garcia who was gunned down inside her house in Talaba, Bacoor City.
The suspect is now detained at Bacoor Police City Jail in Bacoor City, Cavite while frustrated murder and possession of illegal drugs will be filed against him.
