Sean Gabriel Nepomuceno and his friends were attacked by a group of four men near a hamburger stand on Bugallon Street, Marikina Heights.

Nepomuceno was shot along with his companion Franc Raven Jocson.

The 16-year-old Nepomuceno, who had three gunshot wounds, was in stable condition at the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center on Friday. Jocson, who was shot in the left leg, has been discharged.

On Thursday, Marikina police arrested Mark Bersilla as a suspect in the shooting.

Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman, said Marikina police got a tip that one of the suspects was seen on Dao Street, in the same subdivision where the shooting took place.

Bercillas was arrested and was positively identified by one of the Nepomuceno’s companions, Sindac said.

Bercillas denied he took part in the shooting. “I was surprised I was being implicated,” he said.

Sindac said Marikina police were tracking down Arestes Ronar Cruz, the owner of the Ford Fiesta Sedan (TIO-181), which the suspects rode.

Charges of frustrated murder, grave threats and physical injuries are being prepared against Bercillas and his companions.

Nepomuceno and his three friends had come from a computer shop and were about to buy food from the burger stand when four men with guns arrived in a white car at around 2:50 a.m. on Thursday.

The suspects confronted Nepomuceno’s group and brandished guns at them. When Nepomuceno and his friends tried to run they were shot at, reports said.

Police said two groups of teenagers had an altercation in the same place before the shooting. Nepomuceno and his friends may have been mistaken by the suspects as having been involved in the earlier incident, police said.

Willie Wilson Jr., the father of Sean Gabriel, said a bullet shattered his son’s hip, another hit his intestines and a third went through his liver.

He said Jocson was hit in the leg and arm.

  1. To Marikina Heights residents; you will never have secured peace in your neighborhood because all the police that is supposed to protect you are all inside a Shell station near meralco… Doing nothing, puro naka istambay lahat dun at nag tatawanan.
