STA. ROSA, Laguna: Ramoncito Galo, one of the suspects in the rape-slay of a mother and the killing of her one-year-old son in Laguna province on March 2, surrendered Friday night to authorities as he was being bothered by his conscience.
The 25-year-old Galo, who works as a tri-car driver, tagged the mother’s husband as the brains behind the crime, as he was suspicious that his wife was having an affair with another man.
Senior Supt. Ronnie Montejo, the provincial police director of Laguna, said Galo, who hails from Brgy. Cupang in Metro Manila’s Muntinlupa City, surrendered to Celso Dioko, Cupang’s barangay captain.
He added that Galo is one of the two men seen on CCTV footage fleeing the scene of robbery and the rape-slay of Pearly Sta. Ana and the killing of her son, Denzel, in Brgy. Labas, in the Laguna town of Sta. Rosa, more than 40 kilometers south of Manila.
Montejo also said that Galo has admitted participating in the crime, and that he surrendered as what his conscience had dictated him to do.
The suspect also admitted that he and his companion were hired by a man he called “Boss” to kill the victims for P60,000. Galo said that Boss’s motive in contracting them to commit the crime was “revenge.”
Dioko said that Galo had identified Boss to him as Richard, Pearly’s husband, who was earlier tagged as a “person of interest” in the crime. ROSELLE AQUINO
