A suspect in the bombing of the Zamboanga City Airport on Aug. 5, 2010 has surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Addong Salahuddin, alias “Addong Salapuddin,” has been tagged as one of those behind the airport bombing that killed two persons and injured 28 others, including former Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan.
A warrant for Salahuddin’s arrest was issued by the Zamboanga City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on May 2, 2011.
Salahuddin was temporarily detained at the NBI while the agency awaits a commitment order from the Zamboanga City RTC.
Salahuddin, allegedly a fighter of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), said that he surrendered because he was bothered by his conscience. He claimed that he was ordered by “Imam Kasim” to carry out the bombing attack. However, he said Kasim has died.
