Quezon City police on Friday killed drug suspect Pablo Cabangon, 47, in a buy-bust at Barangay Bagong Silangan. A police officer posed as buyer and bought shabu worth P500 from him. After the drug deal, the suspect sensed the presence of policemen covertly positioned nearby, a report from the Quezon City Police District said. Cabangon pulled out his handgun and fired at the operatives, prompting police to retaliate, the report said. Cabangon was seriously wounded and rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. Scene of the crime operatives recovered a caliber .45 Remington pistol without a serial number, loaded with a magazine with two pieces of ammunition, three small heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia and the P500 bill used as buy-bust money.
