Suspect in rape-slay of bank teller charged

CRIMINAL charges have been filed against one of the suspects in the rape and killing of a bank teller.

Randy Oavenada, a truck driver, was charged with rape with homicide at the Pasig Regional Trial Court. The Pasig City Police later presented him to the media

Pasig City Police Chief Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra said Oavenada’s fingerprints matched those found in Cama’s cellphone.

Oavenada also tested positive for drug use.

The Pasig City police reported that five aluminum foils believed to have contained drugs were found in the crime scene.

Yebra said Oavenada denied committing the crime.

“We expect that he would not admit to what he did. However, the evidence points at him, so there’s nothing he can do about it,” the police official said.

The Pasig City police earlier said five “persons of interest” were being monitored by the authorities.

On November 12, Cama’s body was found inside the garage of a truck company in Barangay Rosario, where she was believed to have been raped and killed. Half of her body was burned.
