Suspect in Vhong Navarro mauling falls

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested another suspect in the January 2014 mauling and illegal detention of actor-host-singer Vhong Navarro.

Ferdinand Guerrero was brought to the NBI headquarters on Monday for safekeeping, according to Eric Isidro, head of the agency’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit.

Isidro said Taguig Regional Trial Court Judge Paz Esperanza-Cortez recommended no bail for the suspect.

Guerrero was named as co-accused in the serious illegal detention and grave coercion charges lodged against Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee, Jed Fernandez and Simeon Raz Jr.

Cornejo, Cedric and Raz are currently out on bail for the serious illegal detention case.

Fernandez is still at large, while another respondent in the grave coercion case, JP Calma, reportedly left the Philippines on April 10 last year.

Bernice Lee, a sister of Cedric, and Calma were not included in the arrest warrant issued by the court.

Bernice is out on bail for the grave coercion case.

The NBI gave no details about Guerrero’s arrest.
