TEAM Suzuki’s Wayne Maxwell has clinched the 2013 Australian Superbike (ASBK) Championship at the recent Phillip Island round of the race series, making it back-to-back ASBK titles for the Motul-powered Suzuki contingent and its GSX-R1000.

Maxwell claimed Superpole with a new national best lap-time of 1:32.274 around the scenic 4.445-kilometer circuit, before clinching the title in the 12-lap affair with a 0.014-second margin of victory. Maxwell, competing with the number one plate, followed the win by claiming third position to seal the runner-up overall spot in the Phillip Island round.

“It has been a special first year with Suzuki and I’ve fit in really, really well. I have to say a massive thanks to the whole team and all our associated sponsors like Motul. The championship has been a real team effort,” Maxwell said.

Maxwell had featured on the podium in all seven rounds of the 2013 ASBK season, resulting in one of the most successful years for Team Suzuki.

Recognized for more than 150 years for the quality of its products, innovation capacity and involvement in motor sports, Motul is also regarded as a specialist in synthetic lubricants, having pioneered in 1971 the formulation of a 100-percent synthetic lubricant for automotive engines—called the 300V.
