Swiss man nabbed in Boracay for ‘child abuse’ – police

A SWISS national, wanted for child abuse and included in the list of most wanted people in Aklan province, was arrested recently by authorities while hiding in Boracay Island.

Reports at the Philippine National Police (PNP) national operations center in Camp Crame said on Saturday said Marcel Duschellat, 41, was arrested by the police on Thursday in his hideout at Kurt and Mags in Station 3, Barangay Manocmoc, Boracay Island.

Police reports added that the swiss was arrested based on an existing warrant of arrest issued against him by Judge Bernardita Gabitan-Erum of the Branch 61 of the Regional Trial Court of Angeles City in Pampanga province for violating Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act of 2004.

Police said that aside from the existing warrant of arrest, Duschellat was also considered as the No. 9 most wanted person in Malay town in Aklan province for reasons not mentioned in the report.

Duschletta is now under the custody of Boracay Tourist Assistance Center for proper disposition. ANTHONY VARGAS
