Former Iloilo Rep. Augusto “Boboy” Syjuco has filed an impeachment complaint against President Benigno Aquino 3rd at the House of Representatives but it was not endorsed by any lawmaker.
The law allows citizens to file complaints provided they get a lawmaker’s endorsement.
“Our people deserve no less than faith, justice, truth and honesty,” said Syjuco, who was a former ally of former President and now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
He based his complaint on the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision declaring the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP) unconstitutional.
He alleged that Aquino committed bribery, betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Constitution.
But because the complaint had no endorsers, it will remain in the House’s records section.
Syjuco, also a former chief of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), is facing several counts of graft at the Sandiganbayan over alleged anomalies involving Tesda funds.
On Sunday, Kabataan Party-list Rep. Terry Ridon dropped the impeachment complaint against Aquino that lawyer Oliver Lozano asked him to endorse, which was also based on the SC ruling on DAP.
Lozano wrote to Ridon and maintained that his complaint is “not insufficient.”
Ridon said his group will file its own impeachment complaint against the President.
