TACLOBAN CITY: Mayor Alfred Romualdez urged business owners to tighten their security measures after a series of reported robbery and burglary incidents in the city recently. Romualdez emphasized that it is not enough that business owner hire security guards. What is important, he said, is that they must be regulated and thoroughly checked to ensure that they are not “fly by night” workers. The local chief executive also urged them to provide their workers with just benefits as he pointed out that 90 percent of reported robbery and burglary cases are inside jobs. Besides security guards, the city is also pushing for establishments to install closed-circuit television cameras as additional measures.
