• Taipei adds 9 historic sites to heritage list

TAIPEI: Nine historic sites in Taipei City were heritage listed this week at the 62nd Cultural Assets Assessment Conference, underscoring local government efforts to further preserve the metropolis’s rich and storied past. “It is important to protect precious pieces of history,” a Taipei City government official said. The new listings comprise one cultural site, one historic site and seven historic buildings, including the offices of the Taiwanese air force’s former command center, National Taiwan University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering and Yenshan New Village.
