The Taiwan Fellowship sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is now open for application to Filipino experts and scholars interested in pursuing advanced studies at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan. Their studies should be geared toward researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Mainland China, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology.
The fellowship, echoing the APEC Scholarship Initiative, provides 12 Chinese Taipei AP EC Fellowship openings per year exclusively for scholars and experts from developing APEC economies. The online application will be available from May 1 to June 30. Recipients will begin their research in Taiwan in January 2016.
The MOFA will sponsor the fellowship recipients as follows: Monthly grants paid at the beginning of every month (professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows: NT60,000 or approximately P84,000; and assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates: NT50,000 or approximately P70,000); one round-trip, economy class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan; fellowship terms between three to 12 months; and accident insurance (including medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT 1 million or approximately P1.4 million.
Applicants should first submit an on-line application form and then turn in the following documents to TECO before June 30, 2015: application form; resume (including a publication list); research proposal (three pages in principle using a standard research format); and two letters of recommendations, or one letter of recommendation and one letter of consent from the chief administrator of the applicant’s institute.
